The first live-action film Gintama was released in Japan on July 14, 2017, and crossed the 2.5 billion yen mark 21 days after the opening.
The official website for Gintama 2: Okite wa Yaburu tame ni koso Aru (The Rule is surely there to be broken), the second live-action film based on Hideaki Sorachi’s manga series, announced on September 6 that the sequel had earned a massive 2.5 billion yen in 19 days since its release on August 17, which was two days faster than the first film.
The total ticket sales of the two films in Japan has reached 4.85 million. to surpass the first film’s box office record of 3.84 billion yen.
