Not content with just being the highest-grossing film at the Japanese box office, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba THE MOVIE Mugen Train continues to widen the gap between it and the second grossing Japanese film of all time, Spirited Away, with Mugen Train exceeding 35.70 billion yen (US$342.5 million) in box office takings, the first film in Japan to do so domestically.
Though, fellow Weekly Shonen Jump anime film adaptation Gintama: THE FINAL broke Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s reign at the top of the weekly box office charts, making it come in second for the first time in 13 weeks.
There hasn’t been a more successful film in Japanese box office history and doesn’t seem like it’ll be losing steam anytime soon.
