The company elaborated that the Nintendo Switch is not designed to be the successor to either earlier system.
Nintendo confirmed with video game news website Famitsu on Friday that the Nintendo Switch, its newly unveiled hybrid home/handheld system, will not be compatible with Wii U game discs or Nintendo 3DS cards.
Nintendo Switch games will be on game cards as opposed to optical discs.
The system will offer a custom NVIDIA Tegra processor with an NVIDIA GPU, a high-definition display, detachable Joy-Con controllers, and a Nintendo Switch Dock for connecting the system to a television.
