According to police, the suspect allegedly sold the console with the name “Nanchatte FC Pocket” (Fake FC Pocket).
Nintendo offered a similar console named the Nintendo Classic Mini Famicom with different games in Japan on Thursday.
The Kyoto Prefectural Police’s Anti-Cybercrime division arrested a 51-year-old man named Takayuki Matsunobu in the Kōtō ward of Tokyo on Monday for allegedly selling an illegal game console that contained illegal copies of Nintendo Famicom (NES) games over the “Pachimon TV” website.
Nintendo began selling the NES Classic Edition, a console that contains 30 NES games, in North America on Friday.
