The film earned a total of about 620 million yen (about US$4.18 million) from encore screenings that started in October 20.
The film previously surpassed Howl’s Moving Castle as the #5 highest-earning anime film in Japan.
It has surpassed Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and is now the #6 highest-earning film of all time in Japan (unadjusted for inflation), and is still the #4 highest-earning anime film in Japan.
The film first tied with Princess Mononoke as the #7 highest-earning film and #4 highest-earning anime film of all time in Japan, and finally surpassed the film in rankings last week.
