Ghibli Museum in Mitaka Closes Temporarily for Extensive Renovations

The Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo, Japan is currently closed for extensive renovations, but will re-open in July of 2016 with a new exhibition planned and supervised by acclaimed director Hayao Miyazaki.

The new exhibition, entitled “Nekobus ni notte Ghibli no Mori he” (“Riding the Cat-Bus to Ghibli Forest”), will run from July 16, 2016 until May of 2017.

The renovations will include re-painting the exterior of the museum in bright, vivid colors and updating the interior with new and improved exhibits.
