The franchise has inspired two other television anime series, Black Butler II and Black Butler: Book of Circus, and three original video anime (OVA) projects.
FUNimation Entertainment confirmed with ANN on Thursday that while its license for the first season of the Black Butler anime will expire on May 29, the other anime in the franchise —including Black Butler II, Black Butler: Book of Circus, and Black Butler: Book of Murder — will remain available, including for streaming.
Funimation released all three television anime, the Black Butler II OVA project, and the Black Butler: Book of Murder OVA on home video.
The most recent installment of the franchise, the Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic anime film, premiered in theaters in Japan on January 21.
