Entertainment news website Deadline reported on Monday that James Wan (director for Saw, Furious 7, The Conjuring) will produce the first reboot film for the Resident Evil film franchise.
The film is the third CG-animated film for the franchise, after 2008’s Resident Evil: Degeneration and 2012’s Resident Evil: Damnation.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the “final” live-action film, opened in Japan in December, and in North America in January.
German film production company Constantin Film, which produced all six films in the Paul W.S. Anderson-directed Resident Evil franchise, and Michael Clear (Lights Out) for Atomic Monster will also produce the film.
