Animec Magazine Returns for Special Publication in Summer of 2019

The winners’ essays will be published in the Summer 2019 special issue of Animec.

The special issue features a “40 Years of Gundam” retrospective focusing on the history of the venerable Bandai / Sunrise mecha series.

Additionally, in conjunction with the Kakuyome website, the special issue of Animec is running a contest asking for fans to submit their personal experiences with the “New Century of Anime Declaration”, an event that was held on February 22, 1981 (prior to the release of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Movie) in which 15,000 anime fans gathered at Alta Plaza near the east exit of Shinjuku Station and at which director Yoshiyuki Tomino declared “our time will be defined by a new century of anime”.
