The manga centers on Asahi Tōjima, a first-year high school student at Futatsuzaka High School.
The staff of the live-action film adaptation of Ai Kozaki’s Asahinagu sports manga revealed on Monday that it has cast Mai Shiraishi as Maharu Miyaji, the naginata team’s ace whom everybody looks up to.
She will join lead actress Nanase Nishino, who plays protagonist Asahi Tōjima.
Both the play and the film will star members of idol group Nogizaka46, although the cast will be different for each version.
