The English subtitled commercial re-enacts some of the difficulties that Haruo Nakajima (played by a 24 year old actor credited as Mr. Saito) faced while performing in the original Godzilla suit, which was extremely hot and extremely heavy.
To celebrate the upcoming release of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Suntory Beverage & Food Limited is getting in the giant monster spirit with a promotional campaign between their Boss Coffee brand and Toho Studio’s Godzilla, and the collaboration includes a 65 second TV commercial singing the praises of Haruo Nakajima, the original suit actor that persevered through great hardship to bring Japan’s most famous movie monster to life.
The promotional campaign also includes a Twitter contest (open to Japan-residents only) with a unique, Godzilla-themed jacket (complete with dorsal fins) as the prize.
