Animation studio Fanworks (Aggretsuko) announced on Wednesday that it is collaborating with ADK Emotions and Chinese company Quan on a short anime titled Haretsu Tantan-kun (Break Out Mr. Egg).
The project marks the first time a Japanese company will distribute an anime in this way for China’s video app market.
The anime will begin streaming on October 21 on 10 video apps including Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.
The anime’s story follows Mr. Egg, a character who has achieved two million sticker downloads in the Chinese social media app WeChat.
