Fist of the North Star, Vol. 1 Review

Very happy VIZ media is republishing the legendary Fist of the North Star series. It is a bombed out post-nuclear hellscape where the stoic hero Kenshiro and his young friends Bat and Rin fight their way through it, attempting to right wrongs while embarking on a mysterious quest confronting Kenshiro’s past. Even from these early goings you can tell it’s just crackling with energy, style, and simple yet effective storytelling.

The 80s were all about action and muscle bound, where heroes are strong and saving the weak. The code of honor of protecting the people that needs help are given to the ones that can flex muscle. This is the manga that captures that spirit of the 80s.
