As the Fruits Basket -prelude- theatrical anime heads into its second full week in theaters in Japan and is set to expand to more cinemas on March 4, the latest box office results for the outing were released today alongside the news that a new gift for theatergoers will be given out in the third week of showings which features a replica of a key animation frame of Kyo and Tohru hugging from the Fruits Basket TV anime.
As of February 27, Fruits Basket -prelude- has made over 95 million yen (US$826,900) at the Japanese box office on the back of over 55,000 tickets sold.
The release is still only showing in 25 theaters across Japan but will be expanding to more on March 4.
