The manga contains situations that are based on true stories based on information that Suzuki had collected.
Kodansha announced on Friday that a live-action film adaptation of Daisuke Suzuki and Keisuke Hiya’s Gangoose manga has been green-lit, and is slated for a fall 2018 debut.
Suzuki himself served as a crime reporter for 13 years, and has written numerous non-fiction books based on crime and poverty in Japan.
Reporter and writer Suzuki (no relation to the OniAi writer) and artist Hiya launched the manga in Kodansha’s Morning magazine in 2013, and ended it in January 2017.
