The Numbers website confirmed on Sunday that Godzilla Minus One, Takashi Yamazaki’s new film in TOHO’s Godzilla franchise, has earned the equivalent of US$102,496,330 globally.
The film opened in Japan on November 3, 2023 (“Godzilla Day”), which was the anniversary of the first Godzilla film’s November 3, 1954 release.
The film has earned a cumulative total of 5,454,610,580 yen (about US$37.0 million) in Japan as of January 21, its 12th weekend in Japan.
The film has the highest opening weekend for a foreign film in the United States in 2023, surpassing the US$10.1 million opening weekend earnings of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc in March.
