Kyushu Asahi Broadcasting announced on Friday that it is producing a short anime titled Hakata Mentai! Pirikarako-chan that will debut on the channel this summer.
The anime is inspired by the products of Fukuoka city’s historic Hakata ward.
The anime will center on a walleye pollock roe (mentaiko) fairy named Pirikarako-chan as she solves the problems of other food fairies in a shopping district in a city similar to Hakata.
Taketomo Ishikawa is directing the anime, and is also credited for character design and prop design.
