To help celebrate the exciting event, a special metal model will be made available for sale at the venue, created by skilled model maker Takayuki Takeya in collaboration with figurine manufacturer Kaiyodo and Studio Ghibli. Using a “free movement” metal working style particular to Japan, the model depicts all the curves and details of the Hebikera giant flying insect from Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
The stunning model has been made according to a Japanese metal craft tradition with roots in the Edo period. If there’s one event to entice you away from your air-conditioned house this summer, it’s the Studio Ghibli Exhibition at Roppongi Hills.
The “Jiza Oki” free movement style of metalwork used in this model has been practiced in Japan for centuries.
