Hit anime Your Name becomes highest-grossing Japanese film ever at Chinese theaters

As of December 17, Shinkai’s anime has earned 533 million yuan (US$76.7 million), which makes it the highest-grossing Japanese film ever to be released in Chinese theaters.

On December 2, Your Name opened in China, roughly three months after its Japanese release.

So with its Japanese legacy established, it’s now time for Your Name to start breaking records overseas.
