Its 22nd feature film Zero no Shikkounin/Zero the Enforcer opened in 360 theaters on Friday, then earned an impressive 1.296 billion yen on 1.012 million admissions from its first Saturday and Sunday, easily topping Japan’s weekend box office and also surpassing the previous opening week record of 1.287 billion yen marked by last year’s Kara Kurenai no Love Letter/The Crimson Love Letter.
The 21st film The Crimson Love Letter made 6.87 billion yen from its total domestic run and became not only the top-grossing title in the Detective Conan film series, but also the top-grossing Japanese film of 2017.
Once again, the Detective Conan anime franchise has enjoyed amazing box office success in Japan.
