The live-action film adaptation of Non Tamashima’s romance shoujo manga Moekare wa Orange-iro / My Boyfriend in Orange released in 223 theaters across Japan on July 8, then earned a modest 167 million yen (1.31 million USD) on 12,500 admission on its first Saturday and Sunday, making its fourth place debut in the weekend box office ranking.
Its cumulative box office gross so far finally surpassed the 2 billion yen mark (15.74 million USD), barely reaching a half of its predecessor Dragon Ball Super: BROLY’s total domestic gross.
Based on the first week’s results, the film could reach around 1 billion yen, the same as Lemon Soda’s final box office gross.
