The film is now the fourth highest-grossing anime film in Japan, the fifth highest-grossing Japanese film in the country, and the ninth highest-grossing film of all time in Japan.
According to prefectural police, the suspect allegedly uploaded Makoto Shinkai’s your name. (Kimi no Na wa.) anime film illegally using a file-sharing service.
Police suspect he also uploaded albums of artists Kazumasa Oda and Miyuki Nakajima illegally during that time.
The film stayed at #1 in the Japanese box-office for nine consecutive weeks.
