The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) announced on Monday at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair that author Eiko Kadono won this year’s Hans Christian Andersen Award for Writing.
IBBY awards the Hans Christian Andersen Awards to one author and one illustrator every two years for making a large contribution to children’s literature.
G’s Kemono no Sou-ja Erin and Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit fantasy anime series, won the award in 2014.
Kadono began the main novel series in 1985 and ended it in 2009.
