The project, named Kioxia (which is also the name of the new corporation spun out from the main Toshiba conglomerate) seeks to utilize Kioxia’s expertise in high density and high-capacity computer storage memory to further refine artificial intelligence development.
The first phase of the newly announced project is ‘TEZUKA2020’, where the manga legend’s digitized illustration library will be redrawn using artificial intelligence and Kioxia’s flash memory technology in a showcase planned to begin in February of 2020.
Japanese conglomerate Toshiba, best known in the West for televisions and assorted audio/video hardware, has developed an artificial intelligence project that takes existing libraries of information and content to generate brand new works derived from those records and libraries.
