The farmers used 10 types of rice plants for the tribute art, and the animator’s own parents helped plant them.
Local farmers have recreated Omura’s artwork from U-chan no Matsuzaki into rice paddy art.
As a university student, he launched a picture book titled U-chan no Matsuzaki, and afterwards, he started working for one of Japan’s most prestigious animation studios, Kyoto Animation.
They will be displaying the tribute artwork until August 16th.
