While originally slated for release only for Nintendo’s Wii U console, the game is now slated for simultaneous launch for both the Wii U and the newly revealed Switch platform.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will launch on both Nintendo Switch and Wii U on March 3.
Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed with gaming news website Polygon at the Nintendo Switch launch event last Friday that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be Nintendo’s last title developed for the Wii U. However, Wii U titles will continue to be sold at retail and online.
Nintendo revealed in November that it would soon end production of Wii U consoles in Japan, and that it had already shipped all Wii U consoles to retailers in North America for the fiscal year.
