Following the 178-episode original Aikatsu! TV anime that ran from October 2012 to March 2016, the second series premiered in Japan on April 7, 2016.

The third film from the Aikatsu! anime franchise (the first in Aikatsu Stars!) will be released in Japan on August 13, with a newly-produced short Aikatsu!: Nerawareta Mahou no Aikatsu Card?
