The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood, announced on Monday that director Mamoru Oshii will receive the Winsor McCay Award for lifetime achievemnet at its 44th Annual Annie Awards.
After the success of Ghost in the Shell, Oshii was involved in various projects such as Jin-Roh – The Wolf Brigade, Blood: The Last Vampire, and The Sky Crawlers.
Oshii is known for directing numerous animated films, original video anime (OVA), anime television series, and live-action films.
Oshii has recently branched out into live-action works, such as The Last Druid: Garm Wars, the Patlabor: The Next Generation project, and Nowhere Girl.
