During Netflix’s themed “Geeked Week” of programming announcements, the streaming service has provided an update, however slight on the long-planned and delayed live-action Cowboy Bebop TV series.
Now, Netflix has announced that the series is slated for a Fall 2021 global premiere, and made the announcement alongside a new teaser confirming composer Yoko Kanno’s participation in the project, despite the announcement trailer not featuring Kanno at all, and instead featuring cast members Cho (Spike), Mustafa Shakir (Jet), and Daniella Pineda (Faye Valentine) grooving to the anime’s opening theme “Tank!”.
The series was previously slated for a 2020 premiere before being delayed by a shock on-set accident that injured lead actor John Cho and forced the suspension of production, only for production to be delayed further as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic and recently wrapping up the first season’s production this past March.
