The game shipped for the PlayStation 4 in Japan on February 23, followed by North America on March 7 and Europe on March 10.
The official NieR Twitter account revealed on Friday that the PlayStation 4 version of NieR: Automata has sold more than 500,000 physical and digital copies in Japan and Asia.
The game is a follow-up to the 2010 NieR game, and reunited the director, producer, and composer.
According to Media Create’s most recent Japanese sales chart, more than 300,000 physical versions of the game have been shipped in Japan alone.
