The United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit found in favor of Nintendo Co. Ltd. on Friday in a patent lawsuit filed by Tomita Technologies regarding technology used in the Nintendo 3DS system.
The U.S. Federal Court decided in favor of Tomita in 2013, and ordered Nintendo to pay US$30.2 million to Tomita Technologies.
However, Nintendo asserted that it never used Tomita’s technology in its 3DS, and appealed the verdict in a re-trial in 2015.
Former Sony Corporation employee and inventor Seijiro Tomita sued Nintendo and its U.S. branch in 2011, claiming Nintendo infringed on his patent for 3D technology that does not require glasses.
