The highly anticipated 13th One Piece feature film, One Piece Film Gold was finally released on 739 screens across Japan on July 23 and earned 1,155,771,000 yen on 820,830 admissions on its first two days.
It is enough to take #1 for the weekend, but that’s a huge 15% drop compared to the 1.37 billion yen opening for the last 12th One Piece Film Z released in December 2012.
The 12th film has been the top-grossing film in the anime franchise with the total domestic gross of 6.87 billion yen.
