Toei is projecting that One Piece Film Gold will earn more than 6 billion yen (about US$56.46 million), and will possibly surpass the 6.87 billion yen (about US$64.64 million) gross of the previous film, One Piece Film Z. While One Piece Film Z screened during a three-week winter break when it opened in 2012, One Piece Film Gold is screening during the four-week summer break and also has 3D, 4DX, and MX4D screenings.
As of July 31, the One Piece Film Gold anime has earned 2,364,107,000 yen (about US$23.10 million) and sold 1,709,909 tickets on 743 screens since its opening on July 23.
One Piece Film Gold opened in Japan on 743 screens, which is the largest for any Japanese film.
The film earned 1,155,771,000 yen (about US$10.87 million) and sold 820,830 tickets in its opening weekend.
