France was the first country outside of Japan to be lucky enough to screen the latest One Piece anime film, One Piece Film: Red, and according to the official Twitter account for the film, has started out of the gate breaking records for an anime film in the European country – on top of the records it has already broken in Japan!
According to the official Japanese Twitter account for One Piece Film: Red, which cites local distributor Pathe, the film had the highest number of first-day ticket sales in the country for an anime film ever, recording 267,631 admits on August 10, the day the film opened in France.
It’ll be interesting to see how well One Piece does and if it’s able to take the crown from Pokémon: The First Movie, which is currently the top anime film in France with 2,224,432 admits.
