Original Gundam Composer Yuushi Matsuyama Has Died

Yuushi Matsuyama, the composer of the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime’s theme songs, died last week after his house caught fire.

Besides composing the opening and ending themes for the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime, Matsuyama also did the theme for Heidi, Girl of the Alps, the 1974 anime written and directed by Isao Takahata.

Matsuyama also did the theme for the Tensai Bakabon anime, among many other iconic shows.
