The Japanese patent office actually approved the trademarks for Giyuu, Shinobu, and Rengoku’s designs.
The patent office did not reveal why they rejected the three designs, but approved the three others.
Shueisha filed trademarks for the six designs to combat counterfeit goods which were bound to feature the designs.
Shueisha, which publishes the popular manga series, recently filed for trademarks for the cloth patters for six of the series’ characters.
