The Box Office Mojo website reported that GKIDS’ 4K restoration screening of Studio Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke film has earned an estimated US$4,004,482 from March 28-30, and ranked at #6 in its opening weekend.

The film’s 4K screening earned an estimated US$2,000,591 on Friday, an estimated US$1,083,891 on Saturday, and an estimated US$920,000 on Sunday.

At the time of its release in 1997, Princess Mononoke was the most successful film at the Japanese box office.

GKIDS announced the film’s 4K restoration screening exclusively to IMAX theaters in North America beginning on March 26 to celebrate Studio Ghibli’s 40th anniversary.
