The 2.8 million units shipped is down from 3.9 million units shipped during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
The console is now the second highest-selling home video game console of all time behind the PlayStation 2, which has shipped 155 million units.
Sony revealed on Wednesday in its financial results presentation for the fiscal year 2019 (April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020) that it shipped 2.8 million PlayStation 4 units during the quarter ending on September 30, bringing the console’s worldwide total to 102.8 million units.
Sony lowered its 15 million unit forecast for total units for the fiscal year to 13.5 million units.
