Sony revealed on Tuesday that its PlayStation 4 console sold 5.9 million units worldwide in the holiday period from November 20 to December 31, and that the console has sold 73.6 million units worldwide as of December 31, 2017.
There are now an estimated 645 million copies of PS4 games sold worldwide as of December 31, 2017.
As of September 30, 2017, the console had shipped 67.5 million units worldwide.
The company expects to have shipped 79 million units by the end of fiscal year 2017, which ends on March 31, 2018.
