Born in 1927, Ditko is perhaps best known as the co-creator of the Spider-Man comic character, who eventually became one of Marvel Comics’ most recognizable and iconic characters.
The Spider-Man character inspired the 1970 Spider-Man manga by Kazumasa Hirai, Kōsei Ono, and Ryōichi Ikegami, and the 1978 Toei tokusatsu television series, notable for its inclusion of a giant robot that the titular web-slinger piloted.
