The Ghibli Museum, the museum dedicated to the anime of Studio Ghibli, surpassed its Furusato Choice crowdfunding goal of 10 million yen (approximately US$90,000) in less than 24 hours on Saturday.
The Furusato Choice campaign states that while the museum received a grant from Mitaka City in March, those funds will not cover the cost for larger repairs and maintenance.
The crowdfunding campaign asks donators to donate at least 5,000 yen (about U$45).
The crowdfunding campaign operated by the city of Mitaka started on Friday and is open until January 31.
