Philippa Boyens, who was part of the screenwriting team on the live-action The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies and consultant on The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim anime film, revealed last week in an interview with The One Ring website that the upcoming anime film will use the late Sir Christopher Lee’s voice for his character Saruman from the original live-action films.
He played Saruman in the The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies.
Jackson directed and co-wrote the earlier live-action film trilogies for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit stories, and Walsh co-wrote their screenplays.
Boyens stated that after talking to Lee’s now-late wife Gitte Lee, they went to his records for a voice line from The Hobbit films, agreeing that “Christopher would have wanted this.”
