As Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba THE MOVIE Mugen Train creeps closer and closer to the all-time number one spot on the Japanese box office chart, the current holder, Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away, moved the goalpost today, with distributor Toho adding 880 million yen (US$8.45 million) to the films previous lifetime gross of 30.80 billion yen (US$296.1 million), now totaling 31.68 billion yen (US$304.2 million).
Mugen Train’s current box office takings total 30.28 billion yen (US$290.8 million) compared to Spirited Away’s now 31.68 billion yen (US$304.2 million).
Princess Mononoke also got an 880 million yen (US$8.45 million) update to its lifetime figures at the Japanese box office, which now totals 20.18 billion yen (US$193.8 million).
