Tokyopop announced on Thursday that it is entering a publishing partnership with toy company Mattel to develop original manga-style graphic novels based on Mattel’s Hot Wheels and Barbie brands.
The graphic novels will be for children ages eight to 12 and will debut in print in 2026.
Tokyopop announced at its Anime Expo panel in 2015 that it was planning to begin publishing manga again in 2016, and announced its first new manga licenses in 2018.
Stu Levy founded Tokyopop, originally called Mixx, in 1997 and published manga in serial form in its Mixxzine magazine.
