The official website for Hakyu Hoshin Engi, the upcoming new TV anime adaptation of Ryu Fujisaki’s fantasy action manga Hoshin Engi in the late 1990s, today posted a key visual introducing its main characters and a 100-second teaser PV, and also confirmed that it will premiere on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, and BS11 on January 12, 2018.
The manga, loosely based on Tsutomu Anou’s Japanese translation of Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods written during the Ming dynasty (1368–1644), was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1996 to 2000, and compiled in 23 tankobon volumes.
It was previously adapted into a 26-episode TV anime by Studio Deen in 1999.
