Yasuo Otsuka not only mentored Suzuki but was Hayao Miyazaki’s direct supervisor when Miyazaki first started in anime at Toei Animation in the 1960s.
There are only a few people who have touched the anime industry in such a big way as Yasuo Otsuka, and a majority of them were either mentored by Otsuka, or mentored by someone who was mentored by Otsuka.
Otsuka then moved to A Production (now known as Shin-Ei Animation) in 1968, and then Telecom Animation Film in 1979.
