The 82-minute film was directed by Morio Asaka, the director of the TV anime series and the second feature film Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card released in July 2000, and won the Theatrical Film Award in the fourth Animation Kobe Awards.
In addition to the new anime announced back in June and the ongoing new “Clear Card” arc of the manga, as part of the franchise’s 20th anniversary project, a special revival screening event of Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie, originally released in August 1999, will be held at selected nine theaters in Japan on January 21, 2017.
The official website for the event opened today, announcing advance tickets will be available soon.
