The staff of the previously announced television anime adaptation of Shinya Umemura and Eiji Hashimoto’s Chiruran: Shinsengumi Chinkon-ka (Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem) manga opened a website on Thursday for the anime, revealing that the anime project will actually adapt Umemura and Hashimoto’s official comedy spinoff manga Chiruran Nibun no Ichi (Chiruran ½).
The spinoff manga runs in the same Comic Zenon magazine as the main series, but instead follows the everyday lives of the members of the Shinsengumi, who are depicted in SD form.
The duo launched the series in the inaugural issue of Tokuma Shoten’s Monthly Comic Zenon magazine in 2010.
Comic Zenon is offering some of its series in English online, and readers can vote on which of its series they want translated into English, including Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem.
