Toho has confirmed that Katsuhiro Otomo’s 1988 anime film AKIRA will be screened in the seven Dolby Cinema theaters in Japan from December 4, 2020.
Dolby Cinema is a format that allows the audience to experience Dolby Vision, the latest HDR (high dynamic range) video technology, and Dolby Atomos, the stereophonic technology.
For the screening, 4K scanned and remastered HDR visuals from the 35mm master positive film will be used.
