Kojicast explained in the lawsuit that Google’s Chromecast devices are not “prior art,” as the patent owner Koji Yoden filed the patent in 2012, a year before the patent for Google’s Chromecast devices.
The Kojicast company filed a lawsuit against Funimation on April 24 in the eastern district of Texas, alleging that Funimation’s FunimationNow streaming service infringes on Kojicast’s patent.
Kojicast is seeking damages related to the alleged infringement, and is seeking a trial by jury.
The Unified Patents organization issued a contest in December seeking prior art to Kojicast’s patent.
